With less than a week until the release of Bury Tomorrow’s latest album, Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience, the hype is certainly real. To build off of that excitement, the U.K.-based metalcore band has released their fifth single, “Forever The Night”. To go along with it, they also released a visualizer to go with the song.
The visualizer in black and white. It opens with a woman sitting in front of a wall with a distinct wallpaper behind her. Random lines of lyrics flash across the screen as well. The visualizer switches to show a person with a sheet over their face, pulled tight so we can see their features and it looks as though they are struggling. As the visualizer continues, the camera pans to these two recognizable figures, and the entire visualizer continues like this until the end.
When asked about the song, Bury Tomorrow stated that this song is about how escapism isn’t always a great thing and it can blind us to the truth. The track captures the emotional tension of clinging to fleeting highs to avoid facing reality, underscoring the inevitability of change and the end of all things.
When Bury Tomorrow discussed the writing process of this record, they stated that it was born from a shared sense of frustration in feeling an ever-shifting disconnect from the state of modern society, the band have created an earnest, heart-wrenching and definitive look at the overlapping effects of brutal self-sabotage, crippling anxiety, fierce despondency and the never-ending search for peace and clarity in a world so full of noise. It is a record about division as much as togetherness, an outpouring of personal devastation but a hopeful reminder that we are all navigating it together.
There is no denying it, I am a huge fan of Bury Tomorrow. I have enjoyed all of the singles that they have released leading up to the album, “Villain Arc” might have been my favorite single of last year, no joke. To say that I am excited for this album would be a huge understatement. The release of this song just brings that excitement even more to the forefront. “Forever the Night” feels like a classic Bury Tomorrow song, like this one would have no problem slotting into the track list of “Black Flame” or “Cannibal”. This just brings even more excitement to the album release.
I know I’m counting the days until Friday, May 16th, are you?
