Formed in Pittsburgh in 2015, 156/Silence has continued to push the boundaries of modern metalcore by blending crushing heaviness with cinematic atmosphere and emotionally driven songwriting. The lineup consists of vocalist Jack Murray, guitarists Jimmy Howell and Ryan Wilkinson, drummer Kyle O'Connell, and bassist Mike Ernst. The new record serves as the follow-up to 2024's People Watching and marks the band's first full-length release with Pure Noise Records. Produced by Josh Schroeder, From A Distance explores themes including celebrity culture, intrusive thoughts, personal relationships, and self-reflection while continuing the band's evolution into more melodic and atmospheric territory.

Alongside its heavier moments, the album incorporates influences from classic survival horror game soundtracks such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill, while also drawing inspiration from television series like Twin Peaks. Guest appearances from Mike Hranica, Alex Reade, and Tony Castrati further expand the album's dynamic sound. Since emerging on the metalcore scene, 156/Silence has built a reputation for energetic live performances while sharing the stage with acts including The Devil Wears Prada, Chiodos, Fit For A King, Counterparts, Silent Planet, and The Acacia Strain. With From A Distance, the band continues its commitment to evolving its sound rather than repeating previous releases, embracing a wider range of influences while staying true to its aggressive root
