World’s First Cinema is a band that has been busting out singles for the last two years, and the duo just recently announced details regarding their debut album titled ‘Something Of Wonder’. The album is twelve songs deep and is sure to be a lovely rollercoaster blend of alternative, indie, and electronic. Produced by Fran Hall who's worked with the likes of Imagine Dragons and ZAYN, there are heavy elements of piano and string to their instrumentation as well as synths.
The band consists of John Sinclair and Fil Thorpe, the former bassist of pop punk band Neck Deep. The band has a much softer and sweeter approach in sound in comparison to some former projects they were a part of. ‘Something Of Wonder’ is set to release on July 11 via Fearless Records, and it’s just ahead of some of their dates they have lined up for shows. It was recently announced that the band is playing every single day of Warped Tour this year, as well as other various support and headlining gigs throughout the year.
There are currently four singles released for the album, titled ‘End Of My Rope’, ‘The Underneath’, ‘Freak Show’, and ‘Paranoid’. ‘End Of My Rope’ talks about the struggles of working hard to chase all of your dreams, goals, and aspirations but not getting the results you wanted out of it. The number of people who work hard at what they do but face severe adversity is subject matter many can relate to. The duo has emphasized their love for cinema and how they wanted to encapsulate a feel for many of the films they watched growing up. The scores in their favorite movies was a big part in this album and is likely to play a role in future releases geared for this project.
2025 is set to be a big year for this band as they are ready to fill a melodic hole in the scene that seems to have been missing for a long time. You can find the full album track listing as well as their Warped Tour dates below.
