On Friday, August 22nd, 2025- Australian metalcore band Windwaker has just shared their latest single "Victory Lap" via Fearless Records and Civilians. This track was the first release since their album 'HYPERVIOLENCE'.
Since the band's formation in 2017, the lineup currently consists of members Liam Guinane (vocals), Justin Keurntjes (guitar), Indey Salvestro (bassist), Chris Lalic (drums), and lastly Connor Robins (synths). The track was produced by drummer Chris Lalic and mastered by Zakk Cervini, who has worked with big name artists such as Bring Me The Horizon, Stand Atlantic, Bad Omens). Whenever I see that Windwaker is releasing a new track, I already can tell you it's going to be an insane track, and guess what? It was probably one of the most energetic, groovy tracks I've ever heard. One of the things that threw me off and kind of scared me was seeing Guinane sitting on a helicopter and showing off his typical dance moves. I have a fear of heights so I would be terrified if I was sitting on that helicopter.
The song has a blend of metalcore as well as hip-hop. With glitchy guitars, brutal screams, groovy beats tied in with melodic choruses, this track was written and produced beautifully. Once hearing the breakdown, I already know this track will be incredible live and considering I'm based in NYC, the crowds always go crazy; especially with a breakdown like that.
The band shares, "Victory Lap is a rejection of the naysayers, the gatekeepers and anyone who's ever tried to box us in... It's a reclamation of power and a celebration of self-worth".
