Ever since Waterparks began posting cryptic messages and images on their socials, fans knew they weren't done with the Intellectual Property era just yet. New singles were released by the band, with the most recent one being "FAI2" (standing for "FUCK ABOUT IT 2") featuring pop artist Zeph. It was released independently on June 28th and is the "sequel" single to a track on their fifth studio album, Intellectual Property. Stream FAI2 here.
Back in May, Waterparks announced they would be releasing a sort of sequel album to their album Intellectual Property entitled "Intellectual Property 2: Lost In The Property". A t-shirt with the tracklist was sold at the band's merch booth at Slam Dunk Fest. One of the tracks was "FAI2 (feat. Zeph)", which is the sequel to the song "FUCK ABOUT IT (feat. blackbear)" on Intellectual Property.

The song itself was a very experimental one for the band. It combined both traditional pop beats and melodies, but included both symphonic elements such as string-sounding instruments. "FAI2" was also not a stranger to distortion and screeching sounds, as it incorporated darker, almost heavy EDM aspects. The best way to describe it is to liken the sound to what it feels like getting a computer virus. The vocals featured some heavy but tasteful autotune on frontman Awsten Knight's vocals, and were contrasted by Zeph's more smooth and angelic melodies.
The single also included a music video, which was a combination of interesting 3D landscapes of what fans have assumed is "the Property", a fictional land that the story of both Intellectual Property and Intellectual Property 2 are set in. The appearance of some "characters" and objects that are present in the music videos has whipped fans into a frenzy, trying to piece together theories about what direction the story will take and what each element means in regards to the overall story being told. After all, Waterparks doesn't do anything without having some kind of intention behind their actions.
The song has divided the fandom; some are excited for a new era of experimental music from Waterparks, other aren't so fond of the new direction their music is heading in. But whichever side you land on, you can still agree that the visuals for the music video are intricate and visually stunning. Aspects seen from the original "FUCK ABOUT IT" music video can be seen, as well as Knight and Zeph sitting in what appears to be picture frames, which is an homage to the gallery setting of the original "FUCK ABOUT IT" music video.
"FAI2" is the third single released for "Intellectual Property 2". A release date for the album has not been announced yet, but fans are hopeful for one soon.
