Alright, It’s about time we talk about Sorisa.

Sorisa has been on my radar since earlier this year when his breakout song ‘U Look So Good in Fall’ was plastered all over my Instagram feed. Initially, I thought I was ahead of the curve in finding his music- only to discover that he’d already been the talk of Toronto’s underground scene for quite a while.

After first making waves on SoundCloud under the alias ‘brokeboyhappy’ he shifted gears, adopting the name ‘Sorisa’. It didn’t take him long to start lighting up the internet, eventually breaching full containment with his infectious track ‘U Look So Good in Fall’. This single earned Sorisa over 1.5 million worldwide streams. With the surrounding media attention from this breakout track, Sorisa landed a spot on Billboard’s ‘10 Rising Canadian Acts to Watch in 2026’ and even gave a performance to a sold-out crowd at Toronto’s FIFA Fan Fest back in June. And to make this more impressive, he did this all before turning eighteen.

Continuing to build on a standout year, Sorisa has released his sophomore project, I do Got it, via Atlantic Records. Opening the EP is the hard-hitting electronic anthem, ‘Can I Do Anything That I Want’, which explores the concept of post-high school dreams. The title, along with the song's lyrics, have this duality to them. Sorisa manages to express both a question and statement roped into one, exploring the confidence yet overarching worry youth have once they graduate and are flung into the directionless abyss of the ‘real world’.

What impressed me about I do Got it the most is the fact that it is entirely self produced- apart from some co-production help from ridgeclub on ‘8241’. For me, Sorisa’s sound is reminiscent of everything I loved about electronic pop back in early 2020 when everything still sounded experimental and fresh to my ear. While Sorisa still undoubtedly draws from popular modern era production benchmarks within his tracks, he doesn’t allow himself to fall into the realm of being a ‘rip-off’ of another artist. Instead, he brings this uniqueness and uncontainable spirit to each and every release we hear. This alone actively sets him apart from others in the scene, and proves to fans why he’s an artist that's worth watching, following, and listening to.

I find that all my praise for Sorisa may fall short however, as he’s been getting incredible feedback on his work since his March debut EP, I Love Colours. Blogsite EDMNomad wrote “The project highlights Sorisa’s approach to songwriting and sound design, pairing expressive vocals with atmospheric synth work and rhythmic electronic foundations…With I Love Colours, Sorisa presents a collection that reflects individuality and creative expression while exploring the emotional shades that define modern electronic music”.  This take is not inclusive to I Love Colours though, as Sorisa continues to explore these themes and production elements within I do Got it, continuing to push the boundaries of his own creativity.

To end off the Summer, Sorisa will be taking stage at The Bowl at Sobey’s Stadium for First Class Fest. He’ll be performing alongside OsamaSon, Nettspend, and Che, who are all notable names in the underground rap and hip-hop scene. He’ll be performing on August 28th, with tickets still available HERE.
