To The Grave 'Still' EP + Cordyceps 'Hell Inside'

Formed in 2014 with a vision of pure death metal extremity, Cordyceps spent their first couple years of existence perfecting their sound before releasing their debut EP, Black Blood Butchery – an unmercifully devastating and relentlessly technical slab of audible violence, which was released on New Standard Elite Records in 2017. The EP quickly garnered attention with Black Dahlia Murder vocalist Trevor Strnad, who wrote in his Obituarist column, "'Black Blood Butchery' is a veritable festival of blazing technicality and musical prowess. This is thinking man's brutal death metal in every way."

The group then caught the attention of Unique Leader Records in 2018, and they began working on their debut full-length: Betrayal (2020). A jaw-dropping, vicious, and honest work, Betrayal took Cordyceps to new heights, with media hailing the album as "oppressively heavy in all of the right ways" (Dead Rhetoric).

With their upcoming sophomore record, Hell Inside, Cordyceps is poised to stay on this trajectory, delivering 9 tracks of uncompromising brutal blackened death metal, honed to perfection over the last two years.

On August 1st, Australian deathcore unit To The Grave will release their new EP, Still, via Unique Leader Records. Formed in 2010, To The Grave has released three EPs and four full-lengths to-date, with the latest record being 2024's critically acclaimed Everyone's a Murderer - their "most brutal, no-holds-barred audial assault to date" (Angry Metal Guy). Upcoming EP Still serves up their signature vegan deathcore once again, promising to be another celebrated chapter in the quintet's history.

"The songs on 'Still' didn't fit the vibe of the rest of the 'Everyone's A Murderer' (2024) album, but we couldn't let these ones go," says Matt Clarke about the record. "A lot of them are us trying new directions or flavours to see how far we can stretch the sound of this band, we hope the fans enjoy it as much as we did writing and recording them. Songs like 'Forced Diet Reassignment' and 'Sawed Off' are so strong live and have really found their place in our set on recent tours. It's exciting to be able to just do whatever we want and see what sticks. And capping it all off with a Cannibal Corpse cover was more of that same approach - doing what we want just for the fun of it."

To The Grave line-up:
