The Bites Set to Release Self-Titled Sophomore Album, Share "Hold On"
Los Angeles rock band The Bites are gearing up to release their self-titled sophomore album on September 18 through Earache Records. The new album follows the band's debut album Squeeze, which made the Top 40 of Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. The new record retains the direct, uncompromising attack of the band's debut album Squeeze while taking the band in a new direction.
Single "Hold On" explores the concept of keeping going when it feels like everything is falling apart.
"Hold On" was released during release week of the new album and follows tracks that were already released to give fans a preview of the new album, including "Aftertaste," "Tattoo?," "Whenever You're Ready," and "Dancing With the Devil." The self-titled album was recorded in various locations by producer Keith Armstrong, who has produced records by Green Day and Bon Jovi.
Portions of the album were recorded at East West Studio in Los Angeles, a historic rock recording studio where the Red Hot Chili Peppers recorded some of their most popular recordings. That history provided the right atmosphere for The Bites to record their new album, but the band continues to build on their foundation of rock while also defining their sound.
"The new album presents the same directness that made us curious to listen to The Bites the first time around," states band guitarist Travis Todd.
"We've built on those foundations on the new album while also finding our own unique voice."
With The Bites arriving September 18, "Hold On" is the latest track from a new album that reminds us that our favorite Los Angeles quartet is with us.
