Released all the way back in 1999, Slipknot’s self titled album released and changed the metal scene forever. It was a record filled with influential music & sounds but also an intricate yet brutal art direction that has yet to be matched in tone & style. With this 25th anniversary re-release, we are celebrating the band, their influence on metal music, and the history that led the band to where they are today. The new release dropped via Roadrunner digitally and through a variety of retailers, and is everything maggots could ask for.

The new release is a large box set that includes 59 tracks (Original mixes, other demos & mixes, with more than 40 unreleased tracks) as well as artwork and pictures that have never been released to the public, and 9 collectible Slipknot photo cards. The tracks are spread across a 6 LP set for the first 1899 (that sold out instantly on release) and further as a 2 LP set that also comes with two CDs and digital format. All this includes the original release of the tracks mixed by Ross Robinson, but also live tracks, as well as the aforementioned unreleased tracks, mixes from Indigo Ranch, SR Audio & other alternative mixers. The releases includes tracks like Despise, the demo for Purity, as well as demos of classics like Wait & Bleed or the eerie Prosthetics.

Slipknot is a band that has cemented its place in the metal hall of fame, standing out for their eerie sound, enormous stage presence, as well as their theatrics and art direction. And with new band members breathing new life through their sound, the band still manages to look back on its legacy and influence in the modern metal scene, and the 25th Anniversary Release of the self-titled is a testament to their longevity.
