THIS ARTICLE IS A SLEEPING WITH SIRENS LETS CHEERS TO THIS TOUR 2024 SPOILER ALERT
Multiple generations of “emos” gathered outside The House of Blues in Orlando Florida this past week for a completely sold-out show with 1,500+ guests in attendance. Accompanied by Teenage Joans and Holding Absence, Sleeping With Sirens performed the ultimate elder emo set that would become an absolute core memory for them all.

Since 2018, Teenage Joans has been ripping stages across Australia with their indie rock and pop punk style. Vocalist and drummer Tahlia Borg and vocalist and guitarist Cahli Blakers originally united in Adelaide, Australia and have slowly worked their way to the top, earning 7 awards at the 2021 South Australian Music Awards alone. Their first full length album, “The Rot That Grows Inside My Chest”, was released in 2023 and continues to gain popularity after every show. Crowd direction and participation were present as Cahli hopped from one side of the stage to the other, channeling her energy into the crowd itself. Before you knew it, the crowd was lively, and the smiles seemed to go on for miles. To connect with them on social media and give them a listen, you can find their platforms listed below!

After Teenage Joans, the House of Blues Orlando stage was once again graced by the presence of Holding Absence, and it was absolutely apparent that the crowd missed them. Hailing from Cardiff, Wales Holding Absence has continued to gain momentum in the US for their alternative rock and post hardcore sound while also continuing to rise in the UK. They recently released a song called “Dr. Frankenstein” in September of 2024 alongside the band RedHook that is included on RedHook’s album titled “Dr. Frankenstein”. Holding Absence last released a full album in August of 2023 and have made no announcements as far as any pending projects for which fans are hoping to come in the very near future. And last but not least, the show was closed out by every early 2000’s elder emo’s heart throb band. Sleeping With Sirens was formed in 2009 right in the middle of Orlando, Florida by drummer Gabe Barham and none other than lead vocalist Kellin Quinn. Having the qualities of genres like pop punk, alternative rock, and post-hardrock quickly made Sleeping With Sirens the face of the “scene” community in the early to mid 2000’s and while style looks very different today, the music still holds the same feel it had when times were simpler and life was a little bit easier.
Their song “If I’m James Dean, You ’re Audrey Hepburn” came out in 2010 on their very first album titled “With Ears To See and Eyes To Hear” and quickly put them in the musical spot light. 14 years later, that song’s music video is sitting at 67M views on YouTube and 108M streams on Spotify. 1 year later their album “Let’s Cheers To This” was released causing even more of a stir in the global community and now 13 years later, they are celebrating its anniversary with their 2024 north American headliner tour.
The House of Blues Orlando was completely packed out with faces visible at every corner of the venue, security was on high alert, and crowd surfers were moving steadily over head. Kellin was phenomenal with his crowd interactions and keeping everyone entertained for the over 45-minute set. They played bangers such as “A Trophy Fathers Trophy Son”, “All My Heart”, “Better Off Dead”, and so many more. To catch the show in your town, see the link below.

It was an all-around wonderful experience, from the music to the fans to the absolute love in the room. And on a personal level, 10-year-old me was living her best scene girl dream. Forever an Elder Emo.
