The alt-rock sibling duo The Haunt, are gearing up to release their second studio album Ghost on October 30. Offering a glimpse into the upcoming release, The Haunt has given fans a taste of what’s to come with their newest single, Until I Die. The release of Until I Die comes after last month’s Seasonal Depression , which gave fans another glimpse at the heavier direction The Haunt has been exploring with their music.

There’s something about Until I Die that immediately feels like the perfect October release. The song begins with an upbeat energy, but the haunting vocals quickly set the tone. The instrumentals and Anastasia’s vocals work especially well together. Her melodic delivery gives the song a slightly eerie quality, while the energy of the music keeps it moving.

One of my favorite things about this song is how easily it pulls you in. It’s infectious from the very first notes. The melody sticks with you long after the song ends. In fact, I’ve been thinking about it since my first listen. It’s an easy song to get lost in, and each listen makes a different line stand out. Some lyrics that stick out to me come right from the beginning of the song:

“I trusted you with my whole life

Then I turned around and fell back on your knife

The blood runs thicker than the wine

I’m tired of paying for your crimes

Constantly falling so behind”

These lyrics perfectly encapsulate what a toxic love can feel like. You put your trust in someone, give them everything you have, only to find yourself constantly trying to fix the damage they’ve caused. That’s the takeaway I get from Until I Die. Something you thought was true love, something you never wanted to let go of, can slowly become something you’ll regret for the rest of your life.
