Polyphia Unleash Hypnotic New Single With Eyes To See Ahead of Upcoming 5th Album
Polyphia are entering a darker and more unpredictable chapter with "With Eyes To See," the third single from their upcoming fifth studio album, BE NOT AFRAID. The hypnotic instrumental arrives alongside a visually unsettling new music video, offering another glimpse into the ambitious direction the Texas-bred quartet have taken with their next record.
BE NOT AFRAID is set for release October 23 through Rise Records. With "With Eyes To See," Polyphia continue expanding the boundaries between progressive metal, electronic music, experimental production, and their signature guitar-driven sound. "With Eyes To See" follows the previously released singles "Can You Feel It" and "Power In The Blood," both of which introduced different sides of the band's forthcoming album.
The new video mirrors the track's uneasy atmosphere, combining surreal imagery with scenes depicting destruction and references to redacted Epstein files. The result creates a visual world that feels simultaneously dreamlike and disturbing, matching the song's gradual sense of tension and instability.
Earlier this year, Polyphia returned with "Can You Feel It," their first new single in more than four years. The track pushed the band into territory they had not previously explored, incorporating elements of metal and dance music into their instrumental approach. They followed it with "Power In The Blood," accompanied by a music video filmed inside the São Francisco da Penitência Church in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Together, the two singles established a foundation for an album that appears determined to avoid settling into a single genre or formula.
Across BE NOT AFRAID, Polyphia combine otherworldly metal, forward-looking progressive music, pulsating house influences, carefully selected samples, and intricate beat construction. At the center of it all remains the guitar interplay between Tim Henson and Scott LePage, with the resulting record being built around contrasting extremes, with the music moving between uplifting and triumphant moments and sections designed to feel darker, heavier, and more unsettling.
The recording process for BE NOT AFRAID stretched across 2024 and 2025, with Polyphia working in Miami, Los Angeles, and Dallas alongside co-producer RJ Pasin and guitarist Spiro Dussias.
When speaking on the album Henson adds, “The album takes you through the extremes of two different worlds / moods: one being very uplifting and triumphant, the other being spine-chilling and terrifying. There are moments on the record that legitimately scare me when I listen to them.”
Rather than approaching instrumental rock from a traditional perspective, the band have increasingly incorporated elements of progressive metal, electronic production, hip-hop-inspired rhythms, pop, and dance music. BE NOT AFRAID appears to take that experimentation even further. The contrast between light and darkness is particularly important to the record. The band's intricate guitar work remains central, but it is surrounded by electronic textures, samples, rhythmic programming, and production choices designed to create a much larger sonic environment.
The result is an album built around opposing forces - beauty and tension, celebration and fear, technical precision and unpredictable experimentation.
Since emerging from Texas in 2010, Polyphia have steadily developed a reputation for approaching instrumental guitar music from unconventional angles.
The band's catalog includes Muse from 2014, Renaissance from 2016, New Levels New Devils from 2018, and Remember That You Will Die from 2022.
Remember That You Will Die reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums chart and entered the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. The album also showcased the band's willingness to work with artists from outside the traditional instrumental-rock world, featuring collaborations with Sophia Black, SNOT, Steve Vai, and Chino Moreno.
The band's growing influence has also extended beyond their own releases. Guitar World readers named Remember That You Will Die the "Best Guitar Album of 2022," while Wired, Revolver, and Rolling Stone have all highlighted Tim Henson's impact on modern guitar playing.
With BE NOT AFRAID, the quartet are once again moving beyond the expectations attached to instrumental guitar music while maintaining the musicianship that initially brought them international attention.
Polyphia will tour Europe and the United Kingdom in November and December 2026 before beginning the North American portion of their World Tour in February 2027.
RJ Pasin will support the band throughout the worldwide run. The 2027 North American dates will feature Ladrones, with Intervals joining select shows. Perturbator will appear on all UK and European dates.
