Last month, Orbit Culture shared their single, “Tales of War”. After hearing that, it was clear that the Swedish metal band has been cooking up something for a while. On June 10th, the band revealed their latest album Death Above Life will be available on October 3rd. In addition to the announcement, they revealed their latest single, which just so happens to be the title track. You can watch the music video for “Death Above Life” here.
The video just shows the band performing the song in a room, with a blurred feature to the lens at times.
The song itself, there’s so much to say. The song opens with an intense riff that feels like you are about to charge into war. Although their latest single was titled “Tales of War”, this song feels like a battle anthem. The song then opens with Niklas Karlsson’s signature gutturals, you seriously can’t help but get chills. The opening riff plays throughout the song and is featured in the closing of the track as well. If these first two singles are any indication of how the album is going to be, it might be a shoo-in for my album of the year. Super early prediction, but it might topple the three currently sitting at the first place (Arm’s Length, Landmvrks, and Whitechapel).
When asked about the new album, Niklas Karlsson stated "The album represents change, a new beginning. It brings up a lot of good and bad emotions but it's a big change for the better. It feels like a rebirth."

Orbit Culture has toured with some huge names recently, and they show no signs of slowing down. They recently just opened for the European leg of the Poisoned Ascendancy Tour that Trivium and Bullet for my Valentine headlined. Even more recently, they just played Download Festival this past weekend. They have a couple more European festival dates in the works, and just announced they will be embarking on a headlining European tour where Atlas and Gaerea will be opening for them. You can get tickets here!
