NOTHING MORE is one of those rock bands that you have to see live and listen to. These talented individuals bring fans such unique, but chaotic energy, and has absolutely beautiful vocals coming from the one and only frontman Jonny Hawkins. Forming in San Antonio, TX in 2003, Nothing More is a four piece quartet that consists of Jonny Hawkins (vocals), Mark Vollelunga (guitar), Daniel Oliver (bass) and lastly, Ben Anderson (drums). On Friday, March 28th, 2025- NOTHING MORE has released a deluxe edition of 2024 album 'Carnal (DELUXE)' via Better Noise Music.
The deluxe edition of 'CARNAL' consists of an addition of five bonus tracks, which includes a new version of one of their top hits known as "FREEFALL", which featured Chris Daughtry of Daughtry. The music video takes place in the woods but Michael Lombardi is the main character that portrays a fireman. He has been put on suspension from his duties and has been seeing flashbacks of the life he lived outside of his career. You can see the overwhelming, stress and anger he faces as he is holding his cigarette and having his drinks at the bar. As for someone myself, I have witnessed people who were close to me dealing with those inner demons and experiencing that pain and loneliness with their mental health.
The man explores the streets and has approached a dog who was seen eating on the streets and let's say, that dog is so ADORABLE! To go a bit off track with the music video, both Daughtry and Hawkins' vocals are absolutely incredible together in this track. The overall plot with the backstory in the music video has left me in awe due to the circumstances that who was once a Firefighter suffering with his demons, he has found a new direction in his life and enabled his struggles to slowly decay from his life. Despite the passing of the dog, he has found someone to be on his side at all times. The production to this track and this music video deserves so much love for all the talent that goes into play. Director Stephen Wayne Mallet is absolutely incredible and I am so excited to see what is in the works in the future.
Vocalist Jonny Hawkins shares with fans about the track, “We wrote an anthem for the people who find themselves in an uncertain and chaotic phase of their life.. Every single one of us have had, or will have, experiences where it feels like the rug is pulled from under us… an end to a relationship, a job loss, or the death of a close family member. These times can be filled with anxiety, or they can be filled with spiritual euphoria as we accept our transformation. We’ve always believed that our losses are invitations to ascend to a higher level of reality…and this song is our way of encapsulating that realization. Chris Daughtry elevated that feeling with his soaring and pristine vocals. We are so honored to have him on one of the best songs we’ve ever written.”
NOTHING MORE has teamed up with K9s For Warriors, which is a provider of trained Service Dogs for Veterans who have been through it during the war. K9s' Station Dog program has partnered with law enforcement and first responders to to provide service and emotional support to police officers, firefighters, victims and those who suffer through trauma and PTSD that they have been through while serving their duties to help better our country. Many lives have been lost due to these circumstances and dealing with their inner demons and what has been inflicted on them during these times. K9s For Warriors will help save lives and help alleviate any of the pain and suffering those may face. These animals bring so much love and joy into this world; from my experience, my dogs would know when something feels off about me and they just know how to brighten my day.
According to guitarist Mark Vollelunga, “Nothing More have always wanted our music and lyrics to be a shelter for those in need..With ‘FREEFALL,’ we want to let people know they are not alone when it feels like everything is collapsing around you. So we did something really special; we teamed up with K9s For Warriors to bring more awareness to those that struggle with PTSD and mental health trauma. It’s their mission to train service dogs and pair them up with veterans and therapy dogs for first responders in need. We fully believe in the power these animals have to help create peace and bring about healthy changes in their companions. I recently met my county constable, Kathryn Brown, who was given a therapy dog from K9s For Warriors and she shared with me just how much Biggie, makes her station and life unbelievably better. So let’s get more of these service dogs and therapy dogs trained and paired up with veterans and first responders in need! I personally know that by rescuing animals, my family and life has been enriched tenfold. And I would say that even though we might think we’re the ones doing the rescuing… they are actually rescuing us.”
“We are incredibly grateful to NOTHING MORE for their support of our organization, especially our dedication to helping first responders.. K9s For Warriors has the privilege every day to see the impact a Station Dog has on those who put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe. NOTHING MORE’s generosity allows us to continue changing Veteran and first responder lives.”
-K9s For Warriors Chief Revenue Officer Lindsay Grayson
