On Friday, October 25th, 2024, Orlando metalcore band Not Enough Space blows fans away with jaw dropping new single "Primitive" via Thriller Records. As of last week, the band has made their announcement of joining the Thriller Records team. If you love bands such as old school Asking Alexandria, The Devil Wears Prada, and Attack! Attack! then you might've found your favorite upcoming band. Not Enough Space is a five piece band which members consist of Lizzie Raatma on vocals, Liv Mitchell on vocals, Tristan Laos Green on guitar, Jacob Sawyer on bass and lastly Maurice Jones on drums.
“We are excited to announce that we are dropping our newest single ‘Primitive’! We have worked so hard on this song and hope that you all enjoy it! This is our first single in a year and we have a lot of amazing things coming behind the scenes that we can’t wait to share with you!! Thank you all so much for the love and support!! See you soon!!”
From the very start of the song, they already hit us with a BANG both instrumentally and vocally! Both vocalists Lizzie Raatma, and Liv Mitchell combine their screams in such a unique way and honestly I am not mad about it. Both their vocals blend so smoothly together. From the lyrics, you can definitely delve into the meaning of being trapped or feeling stuck in a situation that you are unable to leave.
The lyrics "I used to cry for help until I realized you’re the only one who can hear me trapped in a room with no windows used to live life with my eyes closed now I can’t tell the difference.. I'd suffer forever" is truly what stood out the most to me and I can feel some sort of connection with that. I had a toxic relationship and in fact it was my first ever relationship years ago and I sort of felt like there was no way of escaping the toxicity and abuse and all you could think about is the fun, memorable memories that came out of it; preventing you from leaving. Raatma's vocals in the chorus are absolutely to die for and it left me feeling more connected to the song with the emotion both these talented women put into their lyrics and vocals.
Anyways going off topic a bit but is there a new genre of metal forming now? I've been hearing many people calling this song "Moan core" and since then I cannot stop laughing. Once the breakdown hit, we were hit with both a BLEGH and a moan and that definitely threw me off but they played it off so well and I was left in shock and I'm still laughing about it while writing this.
