I just want to start off by saying that I have never seen a more interactive crowd than I did for Myles Kennedy. The minute I walked through the doors, there was such an electric buzz of energy that it was very hard to ignore. It’s what every artist hopes for with any show they play, especially when it’s a sold out hometown show.
“It’s like a high school reunion!”
And it really was. In fact, I spoke with a really nice lady who had gone to high school with Myles and was talking about how nice he was and that she hadn’t been to a concert in almost twenty years, but had to come see him at home. His family was also in attendance, which to me is a kind of pride that you can’t really describe.
The show started off with a bang with Sons of Silver. I hadn’t heard of them before this, but I definitely added them to my playlist afterwards. Sons of Silver is a rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 2019. Members consist of Pete Argyropoulos on vocals, guitars, Brina Kabler on keys, Kevin Haaland on guitars, Adam Kury on bass and lastly Dave Krusen on drums. The band has recently released an album titled 'Runaway Emotions' back in January of this year. They really got the crowd pumped and full of excitement.
Now, I’ve seen Tim Montana before when they opened up for Bush back in July. Lets just say, these people know how to put on a great show. He’s from, you guessed it, Montana! With jokes about how his father kept him “prisoner” in Spokane, he always makes all his interactions personal with local crowds and it really served to keep everyone energetic. Tim Montana's performance was definitely worth catching and I was left very impressed and will always be a forever fan of his work. During the set, he performed songs such as "Die Today", "Shut Me Out", "Devil You Know" and many more and if you were at the show, you probably would have seen me signing and dancing along to the music.
Before Myles even came on, you could feel the electric energy starting. The floor was completely packed ( I couldn’t even squeeze through if I wanted to ). When he came out onto the stage, the look of sheer awe on his face as he looked out over the packed ( and sold out! ) crowd. You could tell that he loved being home as much as we love him being home. “The Art of Letting Go” is probably my favorite album from him, but the fact that he played different songs at each stop made it exciting to see what would be on the setlist for the night.
As this was the hometown show, we were surprised with not only an extra song, but an Alter Bridge song that was completely different from any other date. I love that he incorporates his other collaborations in with his sets, especially Alter Bridge and The Mayfield Four.
This show was the rush of nostalgia that I needed. I grew up listening to Alter Bridge, and I had the pleasure of seeing them multiple times in concert, but this was something surreal. While I was standing at the back of the venue, I actually teared up a little as I never thought I’d be standing in that place during such a monumental moment like this.
The night was truly magic. The people, the energy, the music. It was all something special and something that will never be replicated.
