British singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka announces the release of self-produced fifth studio album Fudge for October 23, 2026 via Polydor Records following a 12 month postponement due to poor health. For the first time since his debut album Home Again, Kiwanuka takes on the production of his newest album, giving it a more intimate and homemade feel to it. Fudge was written alongside Kiwanuka's 2024 album Small Changes, but being self-produced and without much outside pressure regarding the release, Michael Kiwanuka was able to make Fudge purely for the love of making music again.

Despite Fudge being Kiwanuka's first album in 13 years without his usual production team, it is more of a change of pace creatively than anything further, with Kiwanuka crafting something new and unique previously unheard from him and his band. The name Fudge comes from that unbridled creativity, named after what he see's as a playful and childlike dessert, and leaning into that childlike wonder was a big part of the albums creation. Without the immediate demand for a new album, the stress was taken off allowing Kiwanuka and the band to produce the album at their own pace in his own space. Featuring inspiration from the likes of jazz musician Chick Corea to The Beatles' Rubber Soul, from Frank Ocean's Blonde to Shuggie Otis' Inspiration Information. The key to the making of Fudge was to do something different from the last records, “I had to do it differently from the last few records, otherwise there was no reason for this record."
