Scottish pioneers of pirate metal Alestorm unveiled their third single “The Storm”, from their newest album The Thunderfist Chronicles, shortly before its release on June 20. With catchy riffs and choruses and the band’s signature seafaring style, “The Storm” encapsulates the energy of an exciting voyage across the seven seas. Watch the official music video below:
On the new song, vocalist Christopher Bowes shares: “Oh wow! Our new song ‘The Storm’ is about the raw, boiling power of mastic asphalt. It's hot, sticky, and unstoppable, just like our music. We were busy one night drinking a bottle of creme de menthe and arguing about road surfacing when it hit us: nothing says pirate metal like molten tar and industrial paving. Hail Ve-Eplu.“
The Thunderfist Chronicles follows the band’s chart-topping seventh album, Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum, which peaked at #7 in Germany and #5 on both the US Current Hard Music and Top New Artist Albums charts. Now more rambunctious than ever, the new album contains eight new buccaneer anthems full of eccentric storytelling, swashbuckling melodies, and ferocious energy. Alestorm yet again delivers their unique brand of pirate metal and elevates it to new heights. Order the album HERE.
Longtime collaborator Lasse Lammert of LSD Studios (Gloryhammer, Wind Rose) joined Alestorm to produce, record, mix, and master The Thunderfist Chronicles.
Christopher Bowes says about the new album: “This album is weird and full of difficult riffs that I already regret. There's a bunch of fun things to discover on the record though - we've got a cover of a song by our friends in Nekrogoblikon, a whole lot of other heavy stuff, plus the longest song I've ever written (over 17 minutes long) which features guest vocals from Patty Gurdy (everyone's favorite hurdy gurdy player) and Sir Russell Allen (Symphony X singer and my favorite vocalist of all time).”
