It's time to start making way and turning our heads to a band that's finally being seen, Glasswaves! Right out of Rochester, New York the band has started taking social media by storm. With their new hit single Downpour it's not a surprise that they've already started to roll across our feeds. The band's unique sound differs from most metal as they enjoy experimenting with new sounds. Unashamed to be themselves while also being inspired by other musical artists that have made it big such as Bad Omens, MIW, and Sleep Token. But don’t worry because just like those bands Glasswaves has their own flair. Downpour was created through using a sample of both and I quote Noah the lead singer here “both fan and friend” from their discord server using a sample of their laugh. With adding a mixture of effects to it, it became the main synth of melody. Noah goes on to say that Downpour means so much to the band because they were able to include someone special who has seen them through since the beginning. The song showcases the internal conflicts the band has and how they can influence the relationships they have, or break them.
As for their shows live? Well I, myself was lucky enough to see the guys on tour last year and even live it is beyond a phenomenal performance. Between both lighting, interacting with their fans, having fun on stage, and of course the music itself the show is a spectacle to see. It will be a show to be remembered, fun jokes and all.
But let's go even deeper beyond that, Glasswaves has gone as far as showing where they stand in the world today. THYM standing on women's rights. We love seeing a band that stands on business and views the world more than just a playground. They do not shy away from the important topics and seem to enjoy connecting their music with the world and its people. Understanding the struggles that many go through while also sharing through their own. Very down to earth and easily connecting with their listeners, showing that they are people too. Now with them entering the battle of the bands hosted by Vans Warped Tour we are hoping to see Glasswaves hit the stage more often, festivals included!
