L7 Debuts New Single "Loma Linda" - Farewell Tour Underway

Legendary feminist rock icons L7 have officially launched the first leg of their final world tour, aptly named The Last Hurrah Tour, which commenced on October 6 in San Diego. For over four decades, the band has commanded audiences to their feet and to the ballot box, utilizing an effortless blend of punk ethos, heavy grunge, melody, socio-political anthems, and sharp humor. This bittersweet final run offers a powerful opportunity for the group to connect with their massive global fanbase one last time.

Before tragically passing away earlier this year, beloved bassist Jennifer Finch gave the band her full blessing to carry on with the tour and to welcome back Janis Tanaka, who played bass with L7 from 1999 to 2001, to step into the role. To commemorate this chapter in the band’s history, the band has unleashed their brand new single, “Loma Linda”. Pulled from the archives, the demo was originally recorded in 2003 with Tanaka, with the music and lyrics finalized just this week. As a direct expression of love and gratitude for Jennifer, Janis, and their incredibly loyal fans, L7 is offering the new track as a free download on their official website for the first week before it heads to all digital streaming platforms.

Frontwoman Donita Sparks shared her excitement about the release, noting that the single marks the return of Janis Tanaka on bass with respect to and following the heartbreaking loss of Jennifer Finch. Sparks discovered the unfinished track while digging through the band archives and felt it still sounded incredibly fresh and distinctively L7. The band quickly tracked new vocals, wrote new lyrics, added in fresh instrumental elements, and cranked the song out in just a few days to get it ready for the road. Sparks added a quick note for the fanbase, stating that the band themselves absolutely dig the new track and hope the fans do too.

As foundational pioneers of the 1990s grunge and riot grrrl movements, L7 shattered the glass ceiling of a male-dominated rock scene with their ferocious riffs, uncompromising feminist anthems, and raw punk ethos. Beyond the historical weight of their four-decade legacy, seeing them live right now means experiencing a high-octane, in-your-face rock and roll show that younger/newer bands can only emulate. They deliver a loud, fiercely energetic, and deeply communal live set that proves their socio-political bite and musical relevance are as razor-sharp today as they were forty years ago. Decades into their career, the band continues to exemplify the principles they champion in their music.

Make sure to catch L7 on tour this fall for what promises to be a gut-punching sonic blast of in your face pure rock and roll. For tickets and the FREE track, please visit www.L7theband.com
