Kingfishr Release 'The Sunnyside of the Street' From Highly Anticipated New Album "20th Century Paddy - The Songs of Shane MacGowan"

Irish folk trio Kingfishr have released “The Sunnyside of the Street”, a highlight from the forthcoming tribute album 20th Century Paddy - The Songs of Shane MacGowan. The collection celebrates the enduring legacy of the late Irish songwriter through fresh performances by a range of acclaimed artists, showcasing the lasting influence of his storytelling across generations.
Kingfisher’s rendition offers a heartfelt take on the classic, capturing the emotional weight of the lyrics while remaining true to the band’s distinctive folk sound. Reflecting on the recording, the band said they were drawn to the song’s understated sadness and felt honoured to contribute to a project that also supports an important cause, as half of the artists’ royalties from the album will be donated to the Dublin Simon Community to help fund housing and healthcare services for people experiencing homelessness.

The release comes during a landmark period for Kingfishr. Their breakout single “Killeagh” dominated the Irish charts for 17 weeks, while their debut album Halcyon entered at no. 1. The band has continued its rapid rise with sold-out headline tours across Australia, the UK, the United States and performances at major European festivals.
Looking ahead, the band is set to return home for three large-scale outdoor shows across Belfast, Dublin and Limerick in summer 2027, further cementing its place among Ireland’s fastest-rising acts.
