When you hear the name ‘Kim Petras,’ you may immediately think of her 2023 Grammy-winning, massive radio hit ‘Unholy’, her massively TikTok-fied song ‘Coconuts’, or her feature on Charlixcx’s ‘Unlock It’. In 2025, however, Petras is working on a little bit of a rebrand, shifting her creative vision to something sleezier, grungier, and fundamentally reminiscent of that earlier electronic scene.
Her latest track, and the second single off her upcoming project, ‘Freak It’, is a complete club hit. Between the zapping synths, steady drums, and gnarly beat drops, Petras has created a track that is absolutely electrifying. ‘Freak It’ was co-produced by Margo XS and Nightfeelings, who helped out on Petras’ first single, ‘Polo’, with additional help from Frost Children, whose influence you simply cannot miss from the second you hit play. This comes as no surprise as Petras and Frost Children have been collaborators in the past, both on and off stage.
“‘Freak It’ was supposed to be the last track on the album, and that was that. Then I started playing it live and the fans went insane. At some point, I just had to give in. I wrote and produced it with my friends, which made it even more fun to finally put out. I miss the chaos and joy of artists like LMFAO and Avicii, and honestly, I just want to lose my mind at clubs this summer listening to this song. The fans yelling at me to release it basically did me a favor. God was definitely in the studio that day,”
