On March 21st, a few days into opening for Daniel Seavey, 19 Year Old Indie Rock singer-songwriter, Shane Boose, better known to the world under the alias sombr, released his highly anticipated single titled ‘undressed’. Long before the track's official release, it had blown up wildly on TikTok through a series of teasers, to the point where I, unfamiliar with the artist at the time, had wrongly assumed ‘undressed’ had already been released onto streaming.
Currently, ‘undressed’ alongside its devastating counterpart ‘back to friends’ are sitting high on the charts of major streaming services (Number 4 and 5 in Spotify America) as well as cracking into the Billboard Hot 100 at 56 and 50, respectively. Though these tracks were not the first of sombr’s discography to hit the mainstream music scene, as they are the ones that have currently shot him into this wave of popularity. From this, sombr has garnered 26 million listeners on Spotify, and if this number is upheld, fans are suspecting the artist may be nominated in the ‘Best New Artist’ category for the 2026 Grammys.
On May 8th, sombr surprise dropped a music video for his song ‘undressed’, just a month after doing the same for ‘back to friends’. The video features a mirage of different clips, all of which come together in the end to perfectly communicate the track's overarching theme- the struggle of moving on from a relationship, especially when you seem tethered to the relationship while your old lover has moved on.
While some people may find the concept of the video a little strange, especially as sombr is being chased through these public streets by a crowd of half-dressed people, the video truly helps to emphasize the point of the song. ‘undressed’ is not just focused on the single issue of moving on from one lover to the next, it is about the repetitive act of undressing yourself down to vulnerability, regardless of how romantically intertwined you may be. It encapsulates the motion of forming new relationships, talking stages, or even creating friendships, when in the back of your mind, you know that this person can up and leave.

By now, most people know sombr is opening for Nessa Barrett starting at the end of this month; however, what some people may not know is that sombr will be embarking on a headlining tour this fall. The ‘Late Nights & Young Romance’ Headlining Tour will start on September 30th in St Paul and continue through to October 28th in Los Angeles. sombr will be making stops in Chicago, Toronto, New York, and Austin, alongside many others, with support from Devon Gabriella.
Unsurprisingly, due to sombr's popularity, the entire tour is nearly sold out, with the majority of the original venues getting upgraded right after the presale alone. You can find the remaining tickets for all cities HERE.
