Rising indie-alternative musician isitjosh officially released his debut full-length album, A Collection of Short Stories About the Heart. The 18-track project explores themes of love, heartbreak, and emotional growth through a deeply personal lens.
Accompanying the release is a new lyric visualizer for “Typical”, a poignant track featuring Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens. The song was written in the wake of a hospital stay and reflects feelings of hopelessness and healing. "Kellin's verse was transformative," says isitjosh. "He brought a message of self-acceptance that changed the entire narrative."
To celebrate the album, isitjosh will headline a hometown release show on June 1 at The Waiting Room in Omaha, Nebraska. He will also join Lake Drive on select East Coast tour dates, including The Sanctuary in New Jersey on June 20 and Mercury Lounge in New York City on June 22. Produced in collaboration with cmfrt (co-writer, touring guitarist) and sayvenus (co-writer, touring backup vocalist), A Collection of Short Stories About the Heart features previously released singles “can’t take back”, “GATEWAY DRUG”, and “people pleaser.” The project blends pop-punk, indie rock, and alternative influences across its 18 tracks.
“This album wasn’t planned—it just happened,” says isitjosh. “I wrote as life unfolded, and it became a collection of stories from the hardest two years of my life. It’s like a journal I’m finally ready to share.”
