Imminence Unveil Axis Mundi, Their Most Ambitious Cinematic Chapter Yet

Imminence have officially unveiled Axis Mundi, their sixth studio album, released through Sumerian Records. It pushes the group's mix of metalcore, orchestral arrangements, and film-style storytelling further than ever before.
This is less a standard record and more a full multimedia world. Across 11 tracks, heavy riffs, sweeping strings, moody electronic textures, and heartfelt songwriting combine into a dark mythology that spills past the music. The band produced the album with engineer Henrik Udd, who has worked with Architects, Bring Me The Horizon, and Dayseeker, and with producer Drew Fulk, whose résumé includes Twenty One Pilots, Knocked Loose, and HEALTH. Eddie Berg, who sings and plays violin, anchors the group's identity, moving between soaring melodic vocals and harsh screams while his violin shapes the record's orchestral character.
Axis Mundi arrives after 2024's The Black, a release that broadened the band's audience across North America, South America, Australia, Japan, and Europe. Sellout shows on several continents followed, and that rise ultimately led to the Sumerian Records deal. That momentum has since grown into a bigger visual world. A companion film, made with Sumerian Pictures, had a limited theatrical release in the United States on September 29, then moved into Europe, the United Kingdom, and Australia on October 1. The film serves as a way to stitch together the album's earlier music videos, previously unseen footage, and fresh visuals to tell the whole story.
At the center of Axis Mundi is an immortal knight condemned to travel the world searching for his own death. His journey becomes increasingly complicated when he is pursued by the Shadow, a dark counterpart created by the same curse, while a mysterious hound accompanies him along the way.
The knight's ultimate destination is the Axis Mundi, a mythical passage connecting the worlds of life and death. Beneath its medieval fantasy setting, the story explores much larger ideas surrounding mortality, destiny, identity, and the search for purpose in a world caught between opposing forces.
“Imminence is meant to be discovered, not predicted,” shares the band. “After all these years in our career, we’ve created our own path, our own sound and brought something new to the genre. And this will always be our way. With Axis Mundi, we have worked more ambitiously and thoroughly than with any other album before. We have expanded the boundaries of what our art form is and how it is perceived. We have spent countless hours on not only crafting the album, but also understanding what it means and says about ourselves as artists and individuals. And we could not be more proud of what we have achieved. We’ve given you everything with this record.”
The narrative has been gradually revealed through a connected series of cinematic music videos. "The Sword That Never Bends" introduced the central character and established the beginning of his journey, while "False Light" and "If Not Now, When" continued to reveal new elements of the mythology.
The visual universe was developed alongside longtime collaborator and album artist Jakob Koc, scriptwriter Juan Felipe Zul, and director Pavel Trebukhin. Together, the team has helped transform the themes found throughout Imminence's music and artwork into a larger narrative that can also exist through film and live performance.
