Imminence Releases Most Ambitious Project Yet, Axis Mundi

Swedish heavyweights Imminence have been around since 2010, and they have just released their sixth album, Axis Mundi, which is their most ambitious project to date. Not only did the band release an album, they also released a movie along with it. The film had a limited release in theaters across the U.S. (and as someone who was able to see it, I can confirm it was very good). The film combines the music videos from the singles, alongside music videos that hadn’t been released yet, and additional material to fill in the gaps to help tell the story Imminence is trying to tell within Axis Mundi.
Axis Mundi is Imminence telling a story about a knight. At the heart of the story is an immortal knight cursed to wander the world in search of his own death. Pursued by the Shadow, an evil counterpart born from the same curse, and reluctantly accompanied by a hound, the knight journeys toward the Axis Mundi - the mythical bridge between the worlds of life and death. Beneath its medieval fantasy setting, the story explores fate, mortality, and the search for meaning in a world suspended between darkness and light.
Imminence has steadily been growing in popularity since the release of their album The Black back in 2024. Since then, the band has performed sold out shows across the world and has signed to Sumerian Records, Imminence is getting ready to catapult into even more success.
As a fan of Imminence for a while, I can guarantee both new and old fans will love this album. It has all the things that makes Imminence who they are: Eddie’s incredible cleans and screams, and a nice dose of violin.
Imminence continues to level up with each of their releases, and this one is no different. As the band tells the story of the knight, you are taken first to “The Sword That Never Bends” one of the singles that has gained plenty of traction, and for good reason. It then takes you to more emotionally taxing songs, “If Not Now, When” and “Didn’t Think About You (Lately)”. The pair back to back will give you emotional whiplash, so fair warning. Closing the album with “Exodus” is a demonstration of the knight finally getting what he wanted, an ending.
This album has genuinely no skips and it is clear that Imminence put their entire heart and soul into the making of this album. Give this one a try, you won’t be disappointed.
Imminence are getting ready to take Axis Mundi across the world, with a North American tour planned first. Supporting Imminence will be Dying Wish and Gaerea, two fantastic bands that will be a great accompaniment to Imminence.
