Rising from Harrisburg, PA, metalcore band If Not For Me makes a comeback with brand new single "Say It To My Face" featuring one of the most well known vocalists in the hardcore, deathcore scene Taylor Barber of Left To Suffer. If Not For Me consists of members Patrick Glover on vocals, Hayden Calhoun on guitars, Zac Allen on bass and lastly Cody Frain on drums. This track has just been released today on Friday, November 8th, 2024 via Thriller Records.
Behind the lyrics of the song, vocalist Patrick Glover tells fans, “I wrote this song about all the people in my life over the years that love to talk about me behind closed doors but have nothing to say when they see me in person. I feel like it’s gotten increasingly more normalized and just easier to hide behind a screen instead facing somebody to talk out your problems, so I think it’s a wildly relatable situation to feel betrayed by people around you in that way. It’s so disheartening to find out people you call friends have a very different perception of you. Say It To My Face goes out to your friends, your enemies, and especially all of the people that blur the lines between.”
If I am being honest, I was never expecting these two bands to collaborate on a song together but it suits it all so well. Usually when I think of Taylor Barber, I just think of his deep, guttural false chord screams; sometimes his clean vocals which are incredible as well. I was listening to this song not knowing what to expect in terms of whether the breakdown will be sort of like a death core breakdown but my expectations were completely different but they played it off so incredibly.
Glover's vocals in this track is so catchy and it's been stuck in my head ever since. The meaning behind the song gives me something I can relate to. Growing up, even in my adult life now, I have been dealing with severe toxicity amongst people I thought I was able to trust; ultimately I was wrong. I have faced so many rough obstacles in my life where people have been back stabbing and talking nonsense about me behind my back and I felt pretty disappointed and sort of betrayed in a way. How can you rely on someone to be there if they just end up going behind your back and attempting to ruin your life? So hearing this song kind of made me feel a lot of connection and emotion. Recently, I had to let out my emotions and get that awful feeling inside my head out and release it and since then I have been doing way better mentally, and emotionally. I was fortunate enough to cut off those people in my life and never looked back.

This past Spring, the band has released an album via Thriller Records titled 'Everything You Wanted' and the album was their debut album on Thriller Records once they announced their signing with the label. One of their most popular tracks "Feel Me Now" has played on SiriusXM Octane continuously and has made it on the Big UNS countdown hosted by SiriusXM host Caity Babs. If you have not checked out that album or streamed that song, please do. You will not regret it. These guys deserve so much love for all their hard work and talent.
If you haven't heard the news already, If Not For Me is set to perform this winter alongside August Burns Red for this year's Christmas Burns Red. The concert will be held on December 14th at the Lancaster County Convention Center in PA. If you are unaware on who else will be performing at this show, The Ghost Inside, Gideon, and Boundaries is set to perform. If you don't know what to do around the Holidays and want something to do during your free time, give all the bands some love and come out and support! If work would let me take off for this, I would definitely be there!
