ICE NINE KILLS Release "A Work of Art"; Official Song For Terrifier 3

Credit F Scott Schafer

On October 11th, Ice Nine Kills released the official track for the long-awaited indie slasher sequel Terrifier 3, which premiered in theaters nationwide on the same day. Along with the single, the band also dropped a cinematic and bloody music video, with the extended cut being 14 minutes long. The original cut premiered on October 10th in over 300 select theaters during a double-feature of Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3. The extended cut features an extra 7 minutes of footage that further continues the lore of Ice Nine Kills’ “Welcome to Horrorwood” cinematic universe. Watch the full extended cut HERE

In classic Ice Nine Kills fashion, the band surely delivers the blood and gore with the “A Work of Art” video, which is especially fitting for theTerrfier franchise’s infamous reputation. The video begins with an expectant mother and her husband going to an Ice Nine Kills concert, something she was reluctant to do. However, the unsuspecting fans have no idea what is about to come: Art the Clown has set his sights on the concert. Killing the security outside, Art gets in and sees the pregnant woman at the bar, eyeing her as his first main target. Soon enough, her water breaks and her husband rushes to find paramedics, but Art brutally kills the paramedics and the woman’s husband before they could help. Art helps her deliver the baby in the middle of the venue floor and then chokes the mother offscreen with the umbilical cord. Art then throws the newborn into the hands of an unexpecting bartender, and he begins his massacre on the concert-goers, inciting chaos with a literal wall of death by giving the fans weapons. Art watches with glee as the fans viciously attack each other until no one is left alive except for the band, which Art then pulls out a machine gun and shoots them before they could even finish performing the song. Art nonchalantly throws the gun down and leaves the blood-soaked venue, with hundreds of bodies piled on the floor. The video perfectly captures the essence of Ice Nine Kills and Terrifier alike with their love of horror and intense gore, making them the perfect collaborators on such a big project.

On the track, Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas said: “Creating a track for Terrifier 3 is like stepping into the ultimate horror playground. The film and our new single, “A Work of Art”, reflect the same twisted, unrelenting energy that fans of both Ice Nine Kills and the Terrifier franchise thrive on. And having our music video play in theaters after the movie at special screenings last night was the ultimate honor and the best way to pay homage to the cinematic terror that has inspired me and this band. The extended cut of the video marks a new era of INK related terror, but what that means shall remain in my nightmares....for now. Psychos, we present to you what may well be our most glorious and goresome offering yet, sure to leave you both tongue-tied and terrified - "A Work of Art".”

The video, directed by longtime collaborator Jensen Noen, features multiple stars of the Terrifier franchise, such as David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown, Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier), and Leah Voysey (Terrifier 2). Also starring are SiriusXm’s Jose Mangin and Vincent Rockwell, Richard Christy (Drummer for Death, Control Denied, and Charred Walls of the Damned), and Shavo Odadjian (System of a Down and Seven Hours After Violet), whose legendary bass skills are featured on the track. Special effects were created by Academy Award-winner Christopher Nelson (American Horror Story, Halloween 2018, Suicide Squad, Kill Bill).
