What’s all the buzz about? Well, the powerful pop-rock duo, Honey Revenge, have just released their sophomore album Loving and Losing.

The record features 14 sweet new tracks, including “Poison Apple Baby” released as a single on November 7th, 2025 and “Sunday Scaries” on July 24th, 2026. Loving and Losing begins with “technicolor,” a fast paced dance tune that Honey Revenge always executes so well. There are layers of robotic synths with the incredible guitar and pro vocals that Donny Lloyd and Devin Papadol are known to deliver.

The next track is titled “Run Your Mouth” which reminded me of some of their older songs that drew me in to Honey Revenge in the first place. Lyrically, there is so much to relate to in this track. It tells the story of two people that will die on their own hill. I love the way they can make a situation that’s so relatable to all of us feel a little less heavy, going from lines like “Pushed everyone away and you know it’s your fault” to “I’ve got my fingers in my ears going la la la.” As a listener, it felt so relatable. “Run Your Mouth” is a track for the Honey Revenge fans that love to jump at shows as well as the new listeners that love a great guitar solo.

Speaking of relatable… Can we talk about “Sunday Scaries”? Leading so well into the feel of “Poison Apple Baby” this track has some fun layering that makes you want to dance, spoken ad libs, unique guitar riffs, and relatable lyrics to scream on your way home from the fun Saturday night that leads to… well. The Sunday Scaries.

“Poison Apple Baby” was the leading single for Loving and Losing, and for good reason. If you’re not one to listen to records in track order, this would be a great place to start. For fans of heavier music, this track has the perfect pop-rock version of an instrumental breakdown and a hook that will be stuck in your head for days.

The front half of the record thematically is really focused on what it feels to be angry with someone and all of the ways you might deal with it. The anger phase, if you will. “Jealousy Monster” hit hard for me personally, because it details the decision to change your own mindset. Lyrically, they nod back to their debut album “Retrovision” in the line “yeah, I think my retrovision’s messed up, I’m so sick of playing catchup.” It’s so easy to get caught up in your own head, tearing apart all of your success through the lens of jealousy. This track held elements of “Retrovision” sonically as well as the call back lyric. I appreciated the layers of reflection through the lyrics as well as returning back to their roots. As a long time Honey Revenge fan, I love that those show up in this track that explores reclaiming your victories as your own.

We got to see a softer side of Honey Revenge with “Freak of Nature” that I was taken aback by the first time I heard it in the best way. The softness of the instrumentals, the pure emotion in the vocals, and the build up for the bridge left me with chills. I would love to see this side of Honey Revenge more often!

From there, we pick right back up into the dance vibe. “Risk” was the first new track the band released in this new era. I was lucky enough to be able to catch their set at Warped Tour DC in 2025, where I heard “Risk” live for the first time and you could tell that the entire crowd was captivated by their performance.

Overall, the record was so well balanced with fresh takes on relatable topics and what we love about Honey Revenge. They have nailed the perfect mix of bringing back what you would expect from them while reinventing their sound. I appreciated that my expectations were met and exceeded in so many ways. I found myself returning back to “Jealousy Monster” the most, sometimes just on repeat.

The themes they explored could apply to anyone in a way that doesn’t feel unspecific. Everyone has lost someone in a way that makes them angry, no matter what the definition of the relationship may have been. The title couldn’t have been more fitting! Loving and Losing is hard to navigate, and Honey Revenge has curated the perfect record to hold you through that journey.

Honey Revenge is the kind of band you really need to see live at least once. They involve the crowd in unique ways and bring a special energy to the stage that I can only describe as electric. Catch them on tour starting October 23rd in San Diego, CA with Dead Poet Society, Hunny, and Broadside.
