Hanabie is a band that has been making waves in the last few years especially after dropping their album Reborn Superstar in 2023. People can’t get enough of the distinctive Harajuku-core sound, blending pop-culture elements from Japan & soaring metalcore. With Yukina on harsh vocals, Matsuri on cleans & guitars, Hettsu on bass & backing vocals & Chica on the drums, this band has been a powerhouse with a super unique sound.
Tasty Survivor was released on the 30th of January & was an opening for the anime Momentary Lily, which debuted in 2025 as well. However, Hanabie dropped their in-house music video as they kicked off their North-American tour in March 2025
The music video itself is a fast paced & modern piece. The song itself is a burst of energy, as such a powerful video is in order, and the band definitely delivered. High CG cyberpunk, modern city set & even floating heads. The video is kind of in line with what they did for Otaku Lovely Densetsu but going towards more aggressive teal tones, rather than the pink, video gamey looks of the former. Despite being for an anime, the song still pushed the band’s heavy sound, where Yukina’s vocals are a highlight, pushing aggression to the next level. Heavy metal has already had its place in anime, we can think of Death Note or Attack on Titan, but Hanabie’s sound is definitely something new that’s being brought to the table. It is also interesting to have a song with two visuals: The anime opening & the actual music video.
