Good Kid Takes The Stage In Waterloo For The First Time On The "This Can't Be The End" Tour

On May 31st, Toronto indie rock band Good Kid took the stage for the first time in Waterloo, Ontario at Maxwell's Concerts and Events, and brought along The OBGMs as their openers.

First to tear up the stage was The OBGMs, which stands for The oOohh Baby Gimme Mores. They are a punk rock band from Toronto, Ontario, and consist of vocalist Densil McFarlane, drummer Colanthony Humphrey, guitarist Simon Outhit and bassist Joe Brosnan.

To open their set, the OBGMs would joke that they were a Nickelback cover band, to which some fans actually believed them until they pulled out those punk rock power chords. They delivered a stunning performance that left everyone ready for the chaos that would ensue later in the night. McFarlane jumped into the crowd twice and encouraged everyone in the venue to jump along to the songs, and jump they did. Humphrey's drums shook the foundations of the small venue, and a killer finish to the set would leave everyone buzzing in anticipation.

Finally, after a little while of waiting, it was time for the chaotic indie band from Toronto, Ontario: Good Kid. Their performance was well worth the wait, since they delivered a show that will never be forgotten by concertgoers. Vocalist Nick Frosst, drummer Jon Kereliuk, bassist Michael Kozakov, and guitarists David Wood and Jacob Tsafatinos didn't just sing songs, but they jumped around onstage, interacted with the crowd and above all else, performed.

The small venue of Maxwell's Concerts and Events made the atmosphere all that much more intimate. Frosst was able to jump right into the crowd and sing to the fans, unencumbered by the barricade. Midway through their set, they would bring out their "Wheel of Chaos", and picked two lucky fans right out of the crowd to spin the wheel. One of the slots on the wheel is "Spin the tiny wheel" which had never been landed on before....

At least not until this show.

Chaos took the reigns and the tiny wheel was spun, landing on the slot which made the band play an Irish song that Frosst loves to play and warm up to.

After that short break, the band would go on to play hit songs such as Premier Inn, which featured Frosst on the trumpet and Dance Class. They finished their set with another popular song, Summer, which was fitting for the month they performed it in.

But of course, everyone wants an encore, and the crowd wasn't ready to say goodbye to Good Kid just yet. For the first song of the encore, only Frosst and Tsafatinos came onto the stage. They performed a bittersweet rendition of Madeleine from their EP Good Kid 3. The rest of the band would join them by the end of the song and prepare for a performance of their cover of Laufey's From The Start. Frosst threw confetti into the crowd, delighting fans who have been waiting for their turn to experience the famous part of their set. Finally, they would close the show with a energetic and feel-good performance of their most popular song, Mimi's Delivery Service. Their performance was everything the crowd wanted, and had everyone leaving with a little spring in their step.
