The New York-based duo Frost Children return with a brand new single off their upcoming album Sister, set to release on September 12th via True Panther & Dirty Hit.
The new single is called ‘Falling’ and it transports you right back to the prime time of the 2010s era. It combines this older style of radio pop with a clear-cut EDM influence, creating something sleazy, vibrant, and downright fun. You could easily slide ‘Falling’ into a playlist with early Zedd, Calvin Harris, The Chainsmokers, and of course ‘Like A G6’ and have nobody bat an eye, that’s how frozen in time ‘Falling’ feels.
Similarly to a lot of the music that came out in the 2010s, there’s often a heavier meaning that gets overlooked due to the compelling and addictive beat, with ‘Falling’ being no different. “‘Falling’ is the double feeling of euphoric and melancholic, both of which seem to be glued together,” the duo explains. “The best part of dance is that you get to let go and leave whatever reality is in the shadows for a moment, and this song especially had that intention to feel like the euphoria was also an escape of something so real and so sad s your lie falling apart in front of you, and wanting someone or something else to take that burden away and take you over.”
‘Falling’ is paired with a Lotus Blossom-directed music video that drips with nostalgia. From brightly coloured swimsuits, bedazzled chains, snapbacks, and fake mermaid tails, Frost Children really pulled out all the iconic items necessary to give the illusion that the video was recorded years ago. Despite not living through the era myself, the ‘Falling’ music video just screams perfection, and I will be expecting everyone in my life to be encapsulating these vibes for the summer.
