Equal Vision Records, the iconic New York-based independent rock label, has teamed up with The Number Twelve Looks Like You to unveil their latest politically-charged single, “Eyes On The Fireworks.” This New Jersey-based metalcore band is known for pushing boundaries, and their new track is no exception.

Frontman Jesse Korman passionately states, “Americans often assert that our claim to being the greatest country in the world rests on our freedom. The term ‘freedom’ is almost synonymous with the United States, as if it encapsulates all that truly matters. However, issues such as healthcare, affordable housing, gun violence, drug addiction, and unemployment persist. Despite these challenges, we continue to celebrate each summer with beach outings, fireworks, and barbecues, proclaiming our freedom, even as our nation engages in foreign conflicts. So let’s just keep our eyes on the fireworks!” This powerful message is at the heart of their new single, which you can watch on YouTube, directed by Jaakko Manninen’s Wordup.Video.

The Number Twelve Looks Like You has been a force in the heavy music scene since their formation in 2001. Their unique blend of mathcore, grindcore, and experimental elements has set them apart, drawing influences from jazz, classical, and avant-garde music. Known for their chaotic live performances and intricate compositions, the band quickly earned a reputation for their genre-defying sound.

After a hiatus that began in 2010, The Number Twelve Looks Like You made a triumphant return in 2016, much to the delight of their fervent fanbase. Their comeback was marked by the release of the critically acclaimed album, Wild Gods, in 2019. This album showcased their relentless innovation and technical prowess, captivating audiences with unpredictable songwriting.

Despite the challenges of navigating adulthood and the music industry, Jesse Korman (vocals) and Alexis Pareja (guitars) have remained dedicated to The Number Twelve Looks Like You for over two decades. The release of Wild Gods was followed by the onset of a global pandemic, which made touring difficult and led to a period of reflection for the band. Feeling musically stagnant, they pondered their futures and what mattered most. This introspection led to the realization that they needed to create new music that demonstrated true progression, mirroring their personal growth and changes.

With the addition of new members Michael DeMarco (drums) and Cody McCorry (bass), the band experienced a rebirth. This new lineup reflects their evolution both individually and musically. “Eyes On The Fireworks” is an emphatic testament to this progression, showcasing their continued commitment to pushing the boundaries of heavy music.

So, if you’re ready for a track that’s as thought-provoking as it is hard-hitting, check out “Eyes On The Fireworks” and keep your eyes on the fireworks, indeed.
