Hailing from Santa Cruz hardcore band DRAIN has released their new album, "…IS YOUR FRIEND", via Epitaph Records. This is their third full-length album and their second with Epitaph. The aim of "…IS YOUR FRIEND" is twofold: to capture their signature live energy on record and to write new songs that will elevate their future performances even further.

Unlike their earlier releases, which were composed before they hit the road nonstop, this album reflects countless nights spent performing, resulting in an understanding of which moments make crowds go wild. The outcome is a record designed to maximize both chaos and connection. Its 10-track list includes some of the heaviest mosh parts, catchiest choruses, tastiest thrash riffs, and the most scream-able lyrics that DRAIN has ever created.

Producer Jon Markson, known for his work with The Story So Far, Drug Church, and One Step Closer, recorded the entire album live, featuring 100% real-time drums without a metronome or programming. The sound is exactly how DRAIN was always meant to be: crisp, sharp, and vibrant.

This energy also permeates the lyrics. Instead of meticulously writing everything down, front man Sammy Ciaramitaro free styled much of the album, allowing the words to flow from his experiences since their last album, "California Cursed" These experiences include getting married, turning DRAIN into a full-time touring band, living out dreams that once felt impossible, and confronting the challenges of being away from home, as well as the distance that success can create. "…IS YOUR FRIEND" reflects on both the good and the bad.

“The growth and stylistic spread of American hardcore music continues apace, and its strength owes heavily to acts like the Santa Cruz, Calif. band DRAIN.” - SAID THE NEW YORK TIMES
