Albany, New York’s formidable metal force, DOWNSWING, have unveiled a striking new music video for their powerful track, “In a Daze,” a standout from their recent album, And Everything Was Dark. The video offers fans an intimate glimpse into a different side of the band, contrasting the relentless heaviness that defines much of their record.
Guitarist Nick Manzella reflects on the song’s significance, explaining, “On a record full of heavy riffs and breakdowns, ‘In a Daze’ pulls everything back and exposes a more vulnerable side of our band. It’s a moment of reflection amidst the chaos, and it allows listeners to feel the raw emotion behind the music.”
The video, directed by Garrett Drake, masterfully translates the track’s emotional intensity into visuals. Drake’s direction focuses on capturing the essence of Harrison’s heartfelt lyrics, creating a narrative that conveys both pain and devotion. Through his lens, the story unfolds as a haunting exploration of love and self-destruction, presenting the idea of clinging to something that slowly consumes you, yet surrendering to it because it is all you know.
This release highlights DOWNSWING’s ability to balance aggression with vulnerability, showcasing their growth as artists and their willingness to explore emotional depth within the metalcore genre. Fans can expect not just crushing riffs and breakdowns, but moments that resonate on a personal level.
Since their formation in 2016, Downswing has emerged as a dominant force in modern metal, defined by groove, atmospheric depth, and emotional intensity. Comprised of Harrison Seanor on guitar, Anthony Salvaggio and Chris Arnold on bass, and Nick Manzella on drums, the band has consistently evolved, refining a sound that balances raw power with introspective energy.
Their latest album, And Everything Was Dark, represents a bold step forward, expanding the sonic foundation they have cultivated while venturing into new territory. Designed with both clarity and impact in mind, the record fuses gargantuan riffs and crushing breakdowns with sweeping hooks and immersive layers of atmosphere. The lyrics strike with greater resonance than ever, exploring themes of vulnerability, self-reflection, and emotional release.
