"Fly You Fool" is about getting out of a toxic relationship and realizing when it's just simply time to call it quits despite your best efforts. About Double XP:
Formed in Upstate New York, pop-punk band, Double XP, strives to create and share music that makes listeners feel invincible. The band delivers bold hooks alongside catchy melodies. “At the end of the day we just want people to feel something when listening to our songs.” Says lead vocalist, Nick Rossi, about the band’s music.
Double XP is a fresh new band that comes off the heels of Rossi’s solo project where he hit strides with virality on social media through the use of an acapella/production breakdown series on his personal socials, the first video being “Feeling This” by Blink-182 which went viral immediately and attracted attention from artists such as WSTR and Jaret Reddick (Bowling For Soup.) Rossi has shared the stage with Young Culture, Vertical Horizon, Rematch, Eternal Boy and Keep Flying. Now with only two singles currently out, “Anakin On Mustafar” and “All A Game” featuring WSTR, hitting over 30K streams after just over a month, the band is bound to set 2026 a blaze with an upcoming full-length album.
Drawing inspiration from icons such as Neck Deep, State Champs and Blink-182, Double XP is gearing up to share their newest single, “Fly You Fool,” on March 13. The track is laced with earworm melodies making for a refreshing dynamic. “The title of the song is heavily inspired from the line “Fly You Fools” from Lord of The Rings and is about being stuck in a toxic/one sided relationship and needing to leave it despite your best efforts to make things better.” Rossi says regarding the new song. “Sonically and musically, it’s a bit of a vibe switch compared to a lot of the other songs we have. It’s a bit darker and almost haunting at times with the slower tempo and atmosphere created in the production and mix. The main elements of Double XP still shine through on the choruses though with the catchy, crowd sing-along vibe that is carried throughout a good portion of the album. Vocally, I really wanted to increase the emotion and impact that the song carries with a “grand finale” type-ending where I hold the last lyric with some intense vocal fry to leave maximum impact on the listener.”
The band embodies an energy of triumph and hardships. “Growing up is not easy. Making relationships and maintaining them, doing your best in school, sports or your job can be tough to manage at times. You will be constantly battered and bruised from all of these areas of life as time goes on, it’s all about how you deal with it and what you take from these experiences that make you into who you are in the present day/ future.” Rossi says as he reflects on the band’s music. “Everyone interprets life, relationships and interactions differently and what makes a person unique is how those interpretations mold their personality and what “path” they chose to pursue. As time goes on you realize there’s really only two options here: let the negativity, sadness and hatred take over and lose yourself in the process or find who you were always meant to be. Start doing things for yourself because at the end of the day all you have is yourself and if you can make yourself happy, you’ve won.” Hear “Fly You Fool” out March 13 across all streaming platforms.
