There is no denying that Deep Purple is a staple in the rock music genre. However, their album Raptures of the Deep is not the first that comes to mind when thinking of the iconic band. Now, twenty years later, the band has re-released this album with never before heard recordings.
When discussing the original recording, bassist Roger Glover stated “We were going through a bit of a hard time when we started the songwriting and production of Rapture of the Deep and, strangely enough, we didn't have a record company at that point. Let's face it, we were a bit lost (…)."
Regarding the re-recording, Glover states “It’s a new album now to me”. It is clearly something the band is proud of and wants their fans to hear this new version.
