The boys from Orange County did it again! Dayseeker releases it's FOURTH single off of their upcoming album "Creature in the Black Night" today. "Bloodlust" hit and I've been cranking it on repeat ever since.
All three releases thus far have been wildly different and "Bloodlust" is no different. It's the hardest of the bunch and it really hits with the feelings of pain and regret staying in a toxic situation. Listening to this single, so many of the lyrics resonate on a personal level, and certainly make me feel seen, and the lyrics cut deep. When Rory sings about clinging like a leech, it hits me hard. Even lyrics like "Do you even bleed?, Drown in your own apathy." perfectly captures the suffocating feeling of being drained by someone who takes more than they gi
What’s especially exciting for me is the variety Dayseeker is showing this cycle. The previous singles ranged from soaring and melodic to dark and brooding, and now "Bloodlust" proves they’re unafraid to lean into a heavier side that we don’t hear from them as often, while still keeping that unmistakable Dayseeker emotional core intact.

According to Rory Rodriguez, "'Bloodlust' is one of the more eerie and chaotic tracks on the record. It's about people in your life who want to metaphorically drain the blood from you — those you can't trust and don’t belong in your life.” That intent bleeds through every line, as the lyrics capture betrayal and exhaustion, pulling you into the suffocating weight of a toxic connection that feeds on your energy until nothing’s left. The songwriting has this magnetic pull, built on real vulnerability rather than forced theatrics. Within the same track, the band swings from bone-crushing heaviness to fragile reflection, mirroring the cycle of pain and clarity you feel in situations like this. Lines like “Cling to my skin like a leech” and “Are you crawling out of your skin again?” feel invasive and grotesque, turning intimacy into suffocation. It’s intimate, unnerving, and cathartic all at once — the kind of raw connection that feels increasingly rare in heavy music today.
It feels like this album is shaping up to be their most dynamic and versatile body of work yet, and with Creature in the Black Night dropping October 24th, expectations couldn’t be higher. If these four singles are just a taste of what’s to come, fans are in for something special. Don’t miss the chance to catch Dayseeker supporting In This Moment on tour right now — because if "Bloodlust" hits this hard through headphones, you can only imagine how massive it’s going to sound live.
