CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, one of America's heavy metal legends, is releasing their interpretation of the song "Fire and Water" by the English rock band Free. This song was first recorded on the album of the same name in the year 1970. CORROSION OF CONFORMITY's recording of the song was captured during free recording moments of their next album, which is intended to be released during the next year. This song will be released as part of the Riffissippi Studio Jam Sessions series, which showcases the reworked arrangements of CORROSION OF CONFORMITY's favorite artists.
According to comments from the guitarist and singer Pepper Keenan, 'while we were recording, we had a very cool space made that was a combination of a large room that included mic’ed everything and even a turntable with some of our favorite albums that we would chill and play in between takes, songs that we had a vibe to. There was some hanging and then I pulled a Free album and ‘Fire and Water’ popped. [Drummer] Stanton [Moore] got out and jumped and was like ‘Who the fuck is that!?’ He had never heard it before. We were all so confused but it was awesome to us that he had never heard it. He was like ‘let’s cut that!’ I was like ‘man, that’s friggin’ Free and that is kinda like holy ground that you don’t fuck with’. But the wheels started turning and the so called ‘drum wizard’ Stanton, damn, he charted it out. I remember saying ‘I can’t sing like that, man. He’s the king.’ Someone in the room said, ‘just sing it like you’ and we had so much fun and that is what we did. It was a nice fun break from the recording, but more importantly, it is nothing too serious, just a bunch of guys leaning into the mic, rocking, and loving the music.'This is an example of how to be methodical . I hope everyone likes it.
