Converge Release 'Hum of Hurt', Their Second Album of 2026

On June 5th Converge released their second album of 2026, Hum of Hurt. Following the release of Love Is Not Enough earlier this year, this second record focuses on the human condition and its undeniable decline with an even more raw approach.

The album opens with “Slip the Noose”, a ferocious blast of classic Converge-style aggression, followed by tracks that balance raw intensity with emotional and thematic depth. “Doom in Bloom” pairs intense riffs with lyrics about confronting personal struggles and finding reasons to keep going, while “Dream Debris” takes a different approach, building slowly into a crushing crescendo that showcases the band’s heaviness.

The record’s emotional core emerges in “Hum of Hurt”, where vocalist Jacob Bannon reflects on the personal sacrifices made during decades devoted to art and music, acknowledging a need for change and self-improvement.

“I’ve given 35 years of my life to creating art and music,” he says. “I appreciate the creative home and support this community has given, yet rarely is space left for anything else. These lyrics are me looking in a mirror, recognizing that I am not the man I want to be. I need change, and still have work to do.”
