Swiss heavy metal band Burning Witches is set to unleash their powerful magic once again with the upcoming release of their maxi-single, The Spell of the Skull, on December 10, 2024, via Napalm Records. The two-track single brings a modern twist to the 80s heavy metal vibe the band is known for, with renewed sonic clarity and a powerful punch that will satisfy fans old and new.
Kicking off with a punchy guitar intro, the title track The Spell of the Skull delivers a heavy dose of shredding riffs and powerful vocals. Frontwoman Laura Guldemond takes the spotlight with commanding, crowd-pleasing shouts, while guitarist Romana Kalkuhl’s melodic riffs set the stage for the song’s anthemic chorus. With its infectious energy and sing-along potential, the track is sure to become a live favorite.

The band has quickly made a name for itself, performing at some of the biggest festivals in the metal world, including Wacken and Summer Breeze. Despite their relatively short career, Burning Witches have solidified their place in the heavy metal scene, and with The Spell of the Skull, they’re preparing to take things to the next level as they look ahead to their next full-length album in 2025.
“Working on this was such a blast,” says Kalkuhl. “The Spell of the Skull could be a new Witches anthem. We’re excited to present some fresh music and keep you entertained until the next album.”
