Brandi Carlile Announces No Device & Setlist-Free Tour Built Around Audience Requests

Brandi Carlile is putting the setlist aside for her next run of shows, giving fans an unusually direct role in determining what happens onstage.
The singer-songwriter has announced a special series of U.S. performances that will be built around audience requests rather than a predetermined setlist. Performing with a trio, Brandi Carlile will decide which songs to play as the night unfolds, allowing each concert to take on its own shape based on the crowd in the room.
Instead of knowing exactly what is coming next, fans will help guide the performance from song to song. The format creates a more spontaneous experience for both the audience and the musicians, with the set changing from one night to the next. The upcoming shows will also take place without phones. Concertgoers will receive Yondr pouches when they arrive, allowing them to securely store their electronic devices during the performance. The policy is designed to keep attention focused on the live experience rather than on recording or photographing the show. The unusual format gives Carlile an opportunity to revisit songs from throughout her catalog while allowing longtime fans to potentially hear tracks that might not appear on a traditional setlist. Because the selections will be shaped by requests, each stop is expected to have its own combination of songs and moments.
Fans will still receive something to take home from each concert. Every performance will come with a unique QR code giving attendees access to professionally captured photographs and select recordings from the show.

Tickets will roll out through a series of presales beginning Tuesday, September 29. Members of Brandi Carlile's fan community, known as the "Bramily," will receive the first opportunity at 10 a.m., followed by a presale for non-premium members at 2 p.m. The Live Nation presale begins Thursday, October 1 at 10 a.m. (fans can sign up for Live Nation’s free All Access membership to join the pre-sale), with tickets becoming available to the general public Friday, October 2 at 10 a.m.
The tour begins November 5 at Revolution Hall in Portland, Oregon, before moving through cities across the West, Midwest, and South. The run will eventually reach the East Coast, where Brandi Carlile will close the tour with three consecutive performances at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York.
Brandi Carlile has built her career around an intensely personal connection with her audience, developing a live reputation that emphasizes musicianship, emotional performances, and direct interaction with fans. This new tour takes that relationship one step further by making the crowd an active part of determining the night's musical direction.
The singer-songwriter has released a catalog spanning more than two decades, including albums such as The Story, Give Up the Ghost, Bear Creek, By the Way, I Forgive You, and In These Silent Days. Her work has earned multiple GRAMMY Awards and established her as one of the most prominent contemporary voices working across rock, folk, Americana, and roots music.
In These Silent Days also produced one of Carlile's most successful periods, earning major recognition at the GRAMMY Awards and generating songs that became staples of her live performances. Her career has also included extensive collaborations with artists across genres, while her work with The Highwomen further expanded her role within the modern country and Americana community.
This upcoming tour takes a different approach from a conventional concert run. With no fixed setlist and phones put away, Brandi Carlile is creating a series of shows where the experience depends heavily on the audience and the choices made in the room that night.
