On Friday, September 26th, metal core legends blessthefall brings the 'Gallows' tour to New York City's Webster Hall. The tour was accompanied by special guests Miss May I, Dark Divine and Colorblind.
Kicking off the show was Colorblind. Colorblind is a post hardcore band from Austin, Texas that formed in 2017. The band consists of vocalist Travis Moseley, drummer Tyler Moseley, guitarist Justin Page and bassist Nicholas Asper. The band is currently signed with Solid State Records and has toured with groups like Caskets, Attack! Attack! And Capstan. The band hasn't released any studio albums yet but have released three EPs which includes their most recent release called “Who Sold You This Truth” which was released on September 12th. Colorblind features a sound most similar to Sleeping With Sirens, but with gnarly breakdowns tossed in. Travis Moseley’s vocal style is also similar to Sleeping With Sirens frontman Kellin Quinn. In 2023, colorblind released a remix of their song “Everything But Faith” featuring Quinn. Colorblind showed off their versatility when they performed their song “God Complex”. Travis Moseley serenaded the crowd with angelic cleans then hit them with brutal screams accompanied by a heavy breakdown led by Page and Asper. The crowd fed off their energy and started a small circle pit. Some people even crowd surfed to the chaos. Colorblind closed out their set with “Way Out” which was more of an upbeat rock anthem with bouncy drumwork and guitar riffs. The crowd was on their feet the whole song as Colorblind finished off their set. Colorblind made new fans that day as fans gave them a loud round of applause.
Next up was one of the scene's most notable emerging acts, Dark Divine. Dark Divine is a metalcore band from Orlando, Florida. The band consist of vocalist Anthony Martinez, guitarist Robby Lynch, bassist Cory Scissorhands and drummer Triston Blaize and are currently signed with Thriller Records. The band formed in 2021 and already created a large following with their spooky halloween aesthetic consisting of face paint, glowing contact lenses with scary cloaks and attire. Their look attracted fans of massive acts such as Motionless In White and Ice Nine Kills who Dark Divine has toured with previously. The chaos began from the jump as fans immediately began moshing and two stepping. The action was at an all time high when Martinez asked for a wall of death to the song “Burn The Witch”. Fans ran full force into each other as Martinez destroyed the crowd with low screams as Lynch led the breakdown as chipped on backup screams.
Dark Divine played mostly heavy tracks, but made time for their softer anthem “Cold” which accumulated 4.6 million streams on spotify as their top track. Martinez demanded the crowd flash their phone lights and the room was illuminated for the whole song. To top off their set the band played their deep cut track “Halloweentown”. A brutally heavy track that is played as their closing song for each set, but this time was different. Their closing song was their latest track "Halloweentown II: Welcome Home”. Martinez raised a pumpkin with glowing green eyes on stage and yelled “WELCOME TO HALLOWEENTOWN”. The band ripped their latest song and the breakdown brought absolute chaos. Blaize hit the crowd with blast beats and snare bombs during the breakdown as the crowd gave it 110% until the end. Dark Divine continues to rise the ranks of the scene and fans await more fun and spooky times.
Next up was the scene legends in Miss May I. Miss May I is a metalcore band from Troy, Ohio that formed in 2007. The band held the same lineup until 2024 when they saw two changes. The band consists of vocalist Levi Benton, guitarist Elisha Mullins, bassist and backing vocalist Ryan Neff and drummer Jerod Boyd. Miss May I is currently signed with Sharptone Records and has toured with bands such as Parkway Drive, August Burns Red and Pierce The Veil. Miss May I has been mainstays in the scene playing dozens of festivals and countless tours over the years. The band aims to play old school metalcore and sound most similar to Killswitch Engage as a whole who they cite as one of their larger influences. Fans have come to love their heavy breakdowns, old school guitar solos and the perfect balance between screams and clean vocals. Miss May was even featured on the soundtrack of Saw VI and the video Saints Row: The Third. Fans were super stoked to see the scene legends take the stage. The band kicked off their set with their top song “Shadows Inside” which amassed over 38 million streams on Spotify since its release in 2017. The initial guitar riff from Williams kicked in along with blast beats from Boyd got the crowd fired up. Fans immediately opened the pit and began moshing. The heat was turned up as fans pushed and shoved while others crowd surfed. The amount of crowd surfers were unreal.
Security had their work cut out for them as the chaos only grew. Benton fed off the crowd's energy high-fiving any fan who came over the barricade. Fans did their best hardcore moves along with plenty of circle pits. Miss May I displayed their versatility in the vocal department during “Under Fire” which brought the most brutal of vocals from Benton while Neff complimented him with smooth cleans. Fans crowd surfed while singing along to the song. The band closed off their set to fan favorite track “Hey Mister”. Benton had the crowd pumping their fists yelling “HEY… MISTER” repeatedly. Fans brought out their best ninja moves in between circle pits for the rest of the set. Fans gave Miss May I a rousing cheer as they await them to come back soon.
Speaking of scene legends, the headliner blessthefall was about to take the stage. The lights went dark and an eager murmur filled the room. Blessthefall took the stage to a booming cheer. Blessthefall is a metalcore band from Phoenix, Arizona that was founded in 2004 and currently signed to Rise Records. The band consists of vocalist Beau Bokan, guitarists Elliott Grunenberg and Eric Lambert, drummer Jared Fron and bassist and vocalist Jared Warth. Blessthefall blew up the scene for years playing countless festivals and touring with countless bands. They were on top of the world, but one day after a tour in 2019 they seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth. Their last post on social media was January 9th, 2020. The band members dropped the band from their profiles and people thought it was the end. Then May 23rd, 2023 arrived and the scene was flipped upside down. Blessthefall announced their return abruptly with a new track called “Wake The Dead” and a summer/fall tour celebrating their 10th anniversary of their hit album “Hollow Bodies” accompanied by Caskets, Kingdom Of Giants and Dragged Under.
Fans were unbelievably stoked and multiple dates sold out along with venue upgrades sprinkled in. The band was back. Another single was released on August 22nd, 2024 called “Drag Me Under” featuring Australian metalcore band Alpha Wolf in anticipation for their tour supporting Polaris. On June 17th 2025 they released “mallxcore” along with the announcement of their album “Gallows” which was released on September 5th. Blessthefall brought out the MySpace nostalgia feeling out of fans as MySpace was a hot spot to find your new favorite metal band years ago. They kicked off their set with the aforementioned single “mallxcore”. An inspiring track about gaining back lost time which seems to stand true to their hiatus. Bokan hyped up the crowd and sprayed water all over the crowd. Things were about to get even crazier. An immediate circle pit formed and fans sang their hearts out to the inspiring track. A chorus smooth as butter sung by Bokan complemented by Warth’s screams. Gruneberg and Lambert nailed the breakdown to perfection as fans did their best ninja moves along to it. The vibes were immaculate as the intensity grew.
Blessthefall played some old school songs such as “Hollow Bodies”, “Guys Like You Make Us Look Bad” and “40 Days…”. Fans ate up the nostalgia and thought they would never hear those songs ever again. But this surreal moment was what the hardcore fans needed all along. Warth took the microphone and stood on the barricade for the song “2.0”. Him and the crowd chanted back and forth “WERE NOT DEAD, WERE NOT LIKE YOU SAID”. After the repetitive chants the breakdown smashed. Fans crowdsurfed up to get a chance to scream into the microphone. In classic blessthefall fashion they seamlessly transitioned into “What's Left Of Me”. Crowd surfers piled over the barricade giving no room for photographers to move while security was all hands on deck keeping everyone safe, which they did. A special surprise was saved for the song “Drag Me Under”. Blessthefall brought out Levi Benton from Miss May I to perform Lochie Keogh of Alpha Wolf’s lines. The brutal screams of Benton were perfect for the feature and crowd moshed insanely hard to this one leaving the band in awe.
A massive circle pit when Bokan demanded one for the “Youngbloods”. This song has what might be blessthefall’s most iconic breakdown callout. The fans screamed "YOU'RE JUST A B*ITCH”. The hardcore moves from the fans filled the pit as it was a battlefield. Blessthefall shared a sentimental moment to celebrate Grunenberg’s birthday. The crowd sang happy birthday to him and the chaos continued after. During “Wake The Dead” Bokan called for a wall of death. As the floor split and fans picked a side, a fan did a hand stand and the wall of death swallowed him whole. Blessthefall finished their set with their most streamed song “Hey Baby Here’s That Song You You Wanted”. Bokan demanded the crowd jump and that they did. The fans crowd surfed like crazy to finish the set. Bokan said how beautiful the crowd was and thanked them for an incredible night. blessthefall finished out the tour this fall and has no other plans at this very moment, but the band is back and better than ever and will have plenty in store for fans.
