Bike Routes Shares Haunting, Reimagined Version of “World Apart”

=

Bike Routes, otherwise known as David Lawerence Osterhout, has been killing it in the alternative music scene. His debut EP, Rush of Energy, released in October of 2024. Since then, World Apart was the number one song on the EP, and for good reason. Now, Bike Routes has released a reimagined version of the song.

When asked about why he reimagined the song, Osterhout stated, "'World Apart (Reimagined)' is a step back in energy in order to really showcase all of the other elements taking place in the song. It fully captures the story-telling elements of a classic Bike Routes track, while ushering forward a new sound and experience."

The song itself is an intimate look at the struggles of dealing with anxiety and heartbreak. Osterhout infuses so much emotion in each line of the song, and the sweet melodies try to sugarcoat the pain hidden within the song.

While the original version of the song kicks off with heavy drum beats, this reimagined version of “World Apart” only has an acoustic guitar for instrumentals. Once we hit the chorus, my skin erupted in goose bumps when Osterhout says “I wanna rip my world apart”. While the original version of the song has a fun, uplifting sound to it, the reimagined version really digs into the true meaning of the song. The way that Osterhout sings the lyrics is haunting, you can truly feel the pain that he is feeling in the lyrics of the song.

Bike Routes has a little over 20,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. With only one EP to his name, I would check him out now. Although he only has a handful of songs, there is something out there for everyone. World Apart feels like his biggest song to date, and for good reason, but the rest of his discography is stellar as well. Bike Routes is sure to take over the alternative music scene and you can quote me on that one.

Bike Routes is currently opening for Arm’s Length on their North American tour. Check out whether or not they will be hitting a city near you below!
