Before The Dawn are ready to usher in a new chapter with their upcoming full-length, Cold Flare Eternal

For over two decades, Tuomas Saukkonen has remained one of the most essential and shape-shifting voices in Finnish metal. Whether through the icy introspection of Dawn of Solace, the relentless power of Wolfheart, or the brooding heaviness of Before the Dawn, his work has always been built on a simple, powerful truth: creation requires destruction.

Now, Before the Dawn are ready to usher in a new chapter with their upcoming full-length, Cold Flare Eternal, set for release on September 5th, 2025, via Reaper Entertainment. Picking up where 2023’s Stormbringers left off, this record marks a new pinnacle for the band—refined, aggressive, and emotionally gripping.

Recorded at guitarist Juho Räihä’s studio once again, Cold Flare Eternal sees the band doubling down on what they do best: merging crushing riffwork with soaring, melancholic melodies, all wrapped in the kind of cold, cinematic atmosphere only Finland seems able to produce. This isn’t just melodic death metal—it’s a layered, emotionally raw experience that captures the desolate beauty of the North while digging deep into the psyche of inner turmoil.

This album doesn’t just follow Stormbringers—it builds on its momentum with renewed fire, resulting in a body of work that’s both heavier and more melodic than anything Before the Dawn have crafted to date. The band sound fully reborn, their vision sharper and more immersive than ever.

To preview what’s to come, the band has dropped a brand-new single and music video for “Fatal Design”, a track that’s already shaping up to be a cornerstone of their live shows. It’s a no-holds-barred slab of heavy, melodic death metal, driven by haunting atmosphere and relentless forward motion.

The song explores themes of internal conflict—light and darkness clashing inside us, the illusion of control, and the heavy cost of the decisions we make. Tuomas crafts these ideas with precision, delivering a track that’s melancholic, unrelenting, and emotionally charged all at once. It's the sound of scars being turned into anthems.
