Acres Unveils Brand New Single "Staring at the Sun"

On Friday, March 21st, Acres has just unveiled their new album 'The Host' will be making it to streaming platforms on May 2nd via Solid State Records. Acres is a metalcore band formed in UK that consists of members Ben Lumber (vocals), Alex Freeman (guitars), Jack Rogers (bass), and Ash Scott (drums). The band has just unleashed a brand new single today known as "Staring At The Sun". Acres is known for their melodic, emotional sound; accompanied by their powerful riffs and breakdowns.

"Staring at the Sun" represents the bands melodic, soft side of their discography. Lumber shares fans what Acres is capable of in terms of making metal music and exploring different sub genres. Vocalist Ben Lumber describes the track as "a classic miserable Acres love song" which I can absolutely understand considering the lyrics are "You left me staring at the sun My eyes are burning I’ve been staring at the sun I’m sick of waiting here". You are in a relationship but you are going through a toxic relationship where you feel ignored, ultimately impacting your emotions. You are waiting for that person to come around and be the person that you have always wanted. Time goes by fast and you are just waiting to find that person.

According to vocalist Ben Lumber, "The record goes in a brand new direction, but we wanted a few songs to nod to our roots with remnants of our old vibe. It's about not being able to let go of someone or something who has a hold over you... "The Host represents a bold step in a new direction for us as a band, we've always pushed ourselves to evolve with every album and never write the same record twice.. This time the process was unlike anything we've done before, working with Landon Tewers (The Plot In You) brought a fresh perspective and added a new flair to our sound that we’re really excited about!"

Funny enough, I was going through a break up and was dealing with tough times years ago and I found Acres while looking for songs to relate to. The first song I have heard from Acres was "Be Alone", which was off their album 'Lonely World', which was released in 2019 via A Wolf At Your Door Records. A lot of artists and fans really have felt enjoyment with that album since all of the songs from that track list express so much raw emotion and gives people so much to relate to. The band has also unveiled their album titled 'Burning Throne' in 2023. This album features the track titled "My Everything" which is their top track on Spotify with over three million streams. The band is known for their powerful, emotional choruses, hard crushing breakdowns and I am all here for it. If you are a fan of Dayseeker, The Plot In You, I would definitely check out Acres and their discography.
