Retromorphosis hits even harder with new single "The Tree"

The five piece technical death metal band is back with another taste of their upcoming album, with a new single “The Tree”. This is Retromorphosis’  second single release, coming  out right after “Vanished”  & giving us a pre-taste of their upcoming album “Psalmus Mortis”.

The band is composed of  four ex-members from Swedish band Spawn of Possession joined by KC Howard who was in Decrepit Birth. Their first single release was a return to form that reminds of their old band’s sound. However, “The Tree” is fresh and hectic, without losing too much of its technical edge. The song opens with hard hitting riffage and doesn’t take long to pound its listener with its punchy drumming. Dennis Röndum’s vocals sound as ripping as they can get and beautifully go with the instrumental arrangement.  The song’s eerie lyrical content feels somewhat old-school, especially tied with the organ that is a tasteful touch to the track, despite not being unfamiliar with their new & older listeners.

As the band is finding a sound that tackles both its older audience & opens the gate to newer listeners, “The Tree” bridges the gap between an old and new sound, pushing Retromorphosis as its own thing rather than a simple reunion of Spawn of Possession.
