Dayglow Puts On A Phenomenal Performacne at His "Glow Star" State

Dayglow's performance in Dallas at the southside ballroom was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. The atmosphere of the venue, mixed with the lights, created a feeling of comfort, almost as if I was visiting a friend.

Doors opened at 7pm that night and the crowd rushed to fill the room. His opening act, teenage dads, all the way from Australia came out around 8pm. The crowd went berserk, immediately jumping up and down screaming. Their performance was everything you could hope for in an opening band.

After Teenage Dads was done performing, we sat in a dimly lit room anxiously waiting for Mr. Glow himself to arrive on stage. You could feel the anticipation from the crowd. Everyone murmuring the songs they’re ready to hear, or which they hope to hear. After about 30 minutes of anticipation, the light went dark. Screams roared out from everyone in the room. I even witnessed some security guards cheering. Dayglow entered the stage enveloped in darkness. The first song was a slower, more intimate welcome to the show.

After the first song ended the lights immediately exploded, revealing Sloan front and center. The atmosphere immediately changed from a slow, intimate setting to a full on rock show. The crowd's energy was in full force. Jumping up and down, hootin and hollering. People were having dance circles in the crowd, just having the time of their lives.

The sign at the back of the stage that lit up with "Dayglow" really made the show’s overall vibe well received. The way the colors changing for each song was quite a show to watch. The light beams syncing up with the music made each song feel unique and were just a joy to see. You could tell the band had great chemistry. They kept it fun and synergized with each other. Throughout Dayglow’s performance, Sloan demonstrated himself to be a jack of all trades, performing most of his songs with a red electric guitar. When he wasn't playing, he was dancing across the stage, jumping from player to player. His presence on stage makes you just smile. With hits like "Hot Rod" and his single, "Can I Call You Tonight?" off their debut album "Fuzzybrain," which was rated a gold track soon after it’s release, the band provided a retro musical experience. Following each song , Sloan stopped and gazed into the audience, who raised their hands in the air, beaming with joy.

The audience roared and demanded an encore after the band left. Dayglow complied with their requests and rushed back on stage. Their encore was like a major thank you to the fans. Sloan continued to play for an additional 30 minutes after the show ended. After the show ended the crowd was left in disbelief of the show they just witnessed. Fans were screaming, smiling ear to ear, and some were even crying tears of joy. After the concert, Sloan took the time to greet fans by his tour bus and take photos. If you ever get the chance to go to a dayglow concert, I would truly recommend it.
